Contact Your Vet or Local Pet Passages Office
If you’re undecided on aftercare, you can call your vet’s office to let them know your pet has passed. They will help guide you in some of the next steps. If you already know you want to move forward with cremation, you can also contact Pet Passages Collin County for help with transportation and choosing the right cremation option for you.
Place your pet on a towel or blanket
Physical changes in your pet’s body can happen soon after they pass. Their body may expel fluids as their muscles relax, so we recommend gently wrapping their body in a blanket or towel. Try to keep your pet’s body cool. You can place a cold gel/ice pack on its abdomen to help slow down the process of the body breaking down.
For Large Pets
You can arrange for in home pet pick up. To make moving and transportation, easier, attempt to position your pet in a location that provides easy access. Particularly if your pet is large, it may be difficult to move alone. You can contact Pet Passages to begin the process or ask for a quote to pick up your pet. Pet Passages services Collin County, TX.
Burying a Pet at Home
Many city or township ordinances do not allow a pet to be buried in a back yard. It is crucial to check with local authorities to see if this is allowed. Also, homeowner’s associations may have possible restrictions or ordinances.
Where to take your pet when they die
Next, decide whether you prefer burial or cremation for your pet. If you opt for cremation, you can choose between communal, semi-private, and truly private options.
You can also finalize your pet’s plans ahead of time to help you feel more prepared for the day when it comes. This way, you don’t have to make these decisions in the midst of your grief.
