Munchie was born on April 12, 2018 and tragically lost her mother at the tender age of four weeks. Her new human mama took her in, and she spent her early years as a hotel mascot at the various hotels managed by her new mama. Munchie was a playful girl who heard everything and had the ears to prove it. After a year or so, she grew into those ears, but up to her final days she could hear Mama come up the driveway long before anyone else and always ran to the car to welcome her home.
Munchie enjoyed playing, especially with her big sister Sissy, and they spent many hours playing tug of war with their doggy rope. One laundry day, Munchie discovered the used dryer sheets and from that point on, they were her toy of choice. Nothing made her happier than seeing a fresh batch of clean laundry, because she knew a new dryer sheet was about to come to play. She had other funny habits such as extending a hind leg behind her after a walk, like a ballet dancer performing an arabesque pose. She had quite the personality!
In her later years, she became a companion and protector to a small flock of chickens and assisted them by consuming any leftover feed. This led to a weight problem that required diet and discipline, but Munchie got back down to a healthy weight, even though she did develop a fondness for birdseed.
She loved her Daddy, even if his bigness scared her a little. As a tiny pup, she loved to snuggle under his beard, but his voice tended to scare her and Daddy christened her Squirt after she repeatedly peed on his neck. Fortunately, she outgrew this as she got bigger.
In her declining years she suffered from hip dysplasia and congestive heart failure, but it only slowed her down a little. She waddled a bit when she walked and had trouble catching her breath, but when Mama’s car came up the driveway, she found the ability to run like the wind to greet her. Her final days were spent snuggling with her Mama and sister, watching old Christmas movies and enjoying some forbidden bacon. She passed peacefully, next to her Mama in Mama’s bed – her happy place. She will be forever missed.
